Welcome to our city dear international student. We would like to welcome and help you to settle in. We also want to have lots of fun together and help you to meet other students and learn more about the American culture. Why not start now?!!! So please let us know when you are planing to arrive.
WHAT PRACTICAL HELP DOES FIRST FRIENDS OFFER FOR YOU ?
BEFORE YOU ARRIVE in Chattanooga, please email firstfriendschattanooga@gmail.com or use our online form as soon as you can, giving your travel details, if you will need welcome services.
TO WELCOME YOU:
PICK-UP: We will be happy to pick you up by car when you arrive at Chattanooga’s airport or at a Shuttle Service with Chattanooga destination from other metropolitan airports in our region.
DROP OFF: We will be happy to drive you to your local destination such as dorm or apartment.
OVERNIGHT STAY: We can often provide free, temporary lodging in an American First Friend’s home your fist night in Chattanooga if you arrive too late in the evening to register for your dorm or apartment.
TO HELP YOU ADJUST TO LIFE IN CHATTANOOGA:
TRANSPORTATION: If needed, an American First Friend will drive you for your first shopping trip, applying for a driver’s license, opening a bank account, arranging cell phone service, etc.
BAZAAR SHOP: Our “bazaar” is a room of free-to-you, gently-used household items you may need for your dorm or apartment - examples are pillows, blankets, cooking utensils, dishes. Contact any First Friend for an appointment to “shop” for free at our bazaar.
HELP WITH ENGLISH: We offer free conversational English classes and written English paper reviews. And, all First Friends are “Conversation Partners” with you as we interact and enjoy time together. More info here.
